The annual Ymer is one of SSAG’s most important publications. It has been published once a year since 1881. Ymer is directed to the general public and has a more popular scientific orientation compared to Geografiska Annaler.
The publication is named after Ymer, the giant in the creation myths of the Vikings. From his flesh Oden could create the earth. Ymer was also the name of the Swedish explorer Nordenskiöld’s ship with which he undertook a polar expedition to the Russian river Yenisey.
Members of the SSAG obtain a new volume of Ymer yearly. Ymer can be found in many libraries.
